Practical Experience
Women in the Project spend two weeks with a union - either their own or with another in which they are interested.
A general plan of activities is mapped out in advance with the union and usually includes:
- union education training - our working lives : identifying
issues faced as women workers
- meeting members and working with an organiser
- attending meetings with other unions, women
members, branch councils
- tour of Parliament
House and lunch
- working with other union officials such as industrial, education, and research officers; and
- seeing how the union is organised and administered.
Emphasis is on practical experiences - seeing the union in action - rather than reading or hearing about it in theory.
