SA Unions Aboriginal Employment Project

The project

SA Unions as part of the "A Fair Share of the Future" Union Agenda has recently re-activated and localised the ACTU National Indigenous Workers Survey to provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers throughout South Australia and some areas of the Northern Territory the opportunity to voice their opinions and values about their working lives.

A Fair Share of the Future - SA Unions Agenda
"We strive to achieve respect for Aboriginal people as the traditional owners and acknowledgement of their on-going relationship with the land.  The delivery of genuine economic and social opportunities for Aboriginal people and their communities."

The aim

The information gathered will provide a vital snapshot of what Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers value most about their jobs, what they would like to see improved and will give input into union campaigns to improve Indigenous employment conditions and outcomes.

The survey(s)

The SA Unions Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Survey was originally developed by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) in consultation with the ACTU Indigenous Committee to provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers the opportunity to voice their opinions and values about their working lives.

The information gathered will provide SA Unions with a vital snapshot of what Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers in South Australia and the Northern Territory value most about their jobs, what they would like to see improved and will give input into union campaigns to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment conditions and outcomes.

This South Australian/NT survey is being run through the SA Unions Aboriginal Project Officer, John Hartley. The following surveys are designed to collect information for the purposes of the development of the SA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Network and to improve the wages and conditions of Indigenous workers.  Please take the time to fill in the survey and assist in this important project.
